Episode 48 – We are Hulking Out

June 25th, 2008 · No Comments

You didn’t think we were going to get to it, did you? But here we are, talking about the jolly green and DC. Yeah, you know what it’s about this week. Hulk and all the other craziness that has been happening this week. There’s some news, but the Tiger Men don’t need news to talk comics, they just need what’s most important to them. Each other.

Morrison throws DC editorial under a bus. Dixon left DC, so we chat a little bit about him. And Pacheco’s fill in art. Yeah, blerg indeed. But, according to Heidi MacDonald not only is DiDio’s job safe, he’s just had his contract renewed.

An almost unfathomable number of books this week from the House of Ideas, and some of the best and brightest the company has to offer. All up against DC’s wounded giant: Final Crisis.

We talk Vertigo, a lot.

They pretty much handled the X-Men panel at Heroes on their own. Hilarity ensued, of course.

According to Ed Boon, the creator and overlord of the MK series, there will be fatalities in the game but not for everyone. All of the MK characters, the DC villains, and the few heroes that do kill will get the opportunity to off their opponents after a win. But the more untarnished heroes will instead get ‘brutalities’ in which they beat their defeated opponent just enough that they don’t die. The game’s content will also push the boundaries of the (contractually obligated) T-rating.

Movies? We got that. Somehow.

Spider-Man 4, Raimi…. Waaaa?

“James Vanderbilt is writing the script and I’m excited to read it. I think it’s going to be done in a few months,” Raimi said. “I’m hoping it’s as great as our discussions were about it and I’m hoping it feels right for me because I love Spider-Man. I’m hoping I’m well rested enough to embrace it and I’m hoping Sony wants me to do it. If all of those things come together, I would love to do it. There are a lot of unknowns about the future. I’d hate to re-cast anybody in the future, I can’t imagine that.”

A lot of vaguely spoiler-ish tidbits, but nothing we didn’t already suspect.

J. Hex and T. Jane. Real or a ’shop?

Haha, now this from Jane: “Yeah, the pic is real all right — my pal Akiva Goldsman told me about the project and I fell in love with the idea right away. Being a huge fan of all things Hex — I just couldn’t help myself. I called up my buddy Chris Nelson and we spent a Saturday afternoon working up some make-up for this impromptu shoot and I fired a few pics off to Warners. How do people get a hold of this shit? It’s a little embarrassing seeing my fanboy enthusiasm spilled all over the web, but great scripts don’t come around too often, especially for characters I love.”

We talk the Hulk, and give our ratings. (Out of 5 rainbow wigged Teslas)
