Because it's New and You Want It
It’s a sad day when any well know actor passes into eternal retirement, but this week one close to the Tiger Mens’ hearts gave his final bow.
Pat Hingle, the Commissioner Gordon we know from the 90s Batman films, has passed away at the age of 84. Since 2006 he has been fighting cancer, but kept on until this Sunday, when he died at his home in North Carolina.
We salute you, comissioner. You will be missed.
Thanks to Rage’n Ryan for pointing this out.

In an effort to get a weekly thing going here and Johnny Gigawatt, I give you my top 5 books of the last week. Not in any particular order, not any particular rating, just a list and a brief description why I think these books need to be read. The short?
And below, under that wonderfule “read more” link, is the long. Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Writing Weekly Columns. Oofta, here we go!

Another year, another “Best of” show. This year, the Doctor de Funk and Sam of Bambino take a look at the most average year to date. Not to say there were not some great things out there in 2008, it just wasn’t 2007 by any stretch of the imagination.
Join us as we go through issues, series, writers, artists and publisher to pick and pull the best of the best. The best of the best in our opinion, anyway. If you don’t agree, drop us a line! Or get the hell out. There’s the door, you know how to use it. Or, uh, just listen to the ‘cast and let us know what we missed. Yeah, we would prefer that.

Yet again, the gods have given unto us our Prometheus, as Ryan has descended with his pearls of wisdom. Eventually, someone will find him and he’ll be tied to a stone overlooking Times Square with an eagle to eternally eat at his liver as punishment. Until then, he’s gone over the latest “20 Questions with Dan Didio” to pull out various bits of his own to thrash wildly upon.
Heed his warnings, young ones. This hero of yore is putting his life in danger with these talks of dark tidings in the “Blackesst Night” and traitorous tales of top tier talent transferring to a tangential team. Oh what tidings Ryan brings us for the new year!

Following in suit with the teasers for 52 and Countdown, Tony Daniel and DC has supplied us with a new teaser, this one for Batman and the Battle for the Cowl. In this week’s 20Q with Didio, Newsarama debuted the new teaser, chalk full of clue to Batman’s future. While the smaller bit is below, click it to go right to the article and the full sized picture that DC and Newsarama have brought to us this holiday!

What’s the time? It’s solicit time. We like to look forward a few months every month to see what’s worth being excited about, so damnitt, here we go again!
It seems a little light, a little small and a little bit like nothing is going on, but we know that isn’t the case. This is what happens after 8 months of running events for the big 2. Looking back, this year was probably the most amazing in sheer volume of event books and also probably one of the more interesting years for indie books. At least, in my (Sam) humble opinion.
So what’s up on the menu for the Tiger Men in March of 2009? Well come on in, grab a menu (one from DC’s kitchen, one from Marvel’s) and get a drink. We need to prepare for the awesomeness that awaits us, in the wooooorld of tomorrooooow!

I don’t want to spoil anyone’s holiday, but sometimes I just have to be the bearer of bad news.
A U.S. federal judge has ruled that 20th Century Fox owns a copyright interest in “Watchmen,” potentially jeopardizing the superhero movie’s March release.
U.S. District Judge Gary Feess of Los Angeles disclosed the decision in a written order Wednesday
–
Fox sued to prevent its release and Feess had set a Jan. 20 trial, but reversed course in writing that Fox at least owns the right to distribute the film.
What exactly does this mean for Watchmen? We don’t know yet. Ultimately I think the film will still make it’s March 6th release. It’s in no one’s best interest to bury that film. In the end WB will likely have to either cut Fox a check, or cut them in on the profits. This will end up being a headache for the studios, but likely won’t effect the fans one bit. But. You never know how these things will progress. Fox could play hardball and block release until they get what they think is coming to them. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see.

For those not in the know, Jimmie Robinson is the artist, writer and creator of Bomb Queen. He’s also the well wisher of the greeting we pass along to you, in the spirit of change.
I tell you what, if the form of change comes in the form of a scantily clad and often near naked black haired vixen that spends the most of her days being naughty, count me in! All of us hope that you and yours get to spend some quality time with one another, hopefully over a nice stack of comics.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to convince the g/f that this kind of cosplay is perfectly normal. It is, isn’t it? I mean, if it feel this good, it just has to be right. Even if this top is a little tight and these boots feel a bit heavy. Does anyone know where my lady can find a decent Obama costume? Anyone?

The Tiger Men not only like B Movies, but they like B Movie actors. Clint Howard is one of them, and they spend plenty, maybe too much, time talking him and other as they work their way through the latest comic and comic movie news.
What does that mean this holiday? It means that even on Christmas day, the Tiger Men will be there to talk about the latest comics and last week’s best. Which is good, because we know how you’d hate to go a week without our dulcet tones, and more importantly, Sam and Mike’s performance of a special scene from Spider-Man 4. We’ll tell you where to send the Oscar invites next week.

Every once in a while, I, Sam Bambino will have heated discussions with my friend Rage’n Ryan the Rhino, er, well I won’t say what he does to Rhinos, but I’ll just have you know it’s not pleasant.
Why should this concern you? It shouldn’t, but it concerns me because lately Ryan found out I not only do not immediately bag and board my comics, but I occasionally read them in the bathroom or while I bake. Ryan isn’t having any of this, hence this missive on how comic should be taken care of. Wrapped around these nuggets is his thoughts on MI:13, which comes as a little bonus to suppliment his almost coherent ramblings.
Listen close, folks. There be pearls of wisdom about, and if you don’t want to disappoint with your comic givings to friends and relatives, take heed. It will not matter if you’re as big and scary as a Rhino, Ryan will find you.
