Because it's New and You Want It
Aside from making bad jokes about a Hulk cover, the Tiger Men have been hard at it the last couple of weeks, and by that I mean we’ve been reading every freak’n Marvel book out there. Really Marvel? Do you need to release 75% of your scheduled books in a two week period, really?
In other news, we looked around at Twitter for the #thingsringoshouldvedone (which was more about Sam Bambino being amused by Warren Ellis and Matt Fraction), the possible Stretch Armstrong movie (this has been bounced around for a while, and it’s still ridiculous) and last week Superpouvour.com got the Marvel solicits early. Not things we talked about today, but still.
This week it was all about Cap #600, the new JLA team, Wizard World Philly, Heroes-Con and the habits of Geoff Johns. Conjecture, I promise you.

Yes yes, I say Week 10, but you know what this really means: two weeks of pooled comic reads for my reading pleasure. It’s a tough life when you like what you do in your free time.
This week brings us a few selected materials, most of which you probably know the names of. The questions still remains, what did Sam like the last couple weeks that he may not have talked about on the show?
It’s a shorter list than even I am used to, but maybe that means I’ll talk more about each one. Yes? No? Maybe? Well, the only way you’re gonna find out is if you hit that read link below…

Just as the announcement of JSA vs. Kobra by Eric Trautmann, DC has given us an announcement on his next series with a co-feature by Brandon Jerwa, days before even they can talk about it! From the DC Solicitation Preview for September 2009 and over at Mr. Trautmann’s own blog:
THE SHIELD #1
Written by Eric Trautmann; co-feature written by Brandon Jerwa
Art by Marco Rudy & Mick Gray; co-feature art by Greg Scott
Cover by Francis Manapul
Variant sketch cover by JG Jones
Spinning out of August’s “Red Circle” event from superstar writer J. Michael Straczynski comes the new ongoing adventures of the patriotic Shield and the mysterious man on the run, Inferno! Eric Trautmann (CHECKMATE) and Marco Rudy (FINAL CRISIS) take Lt. Joe Higgins, a.k.a. The Shield, into the hotspots civilians dare not go. His first mission takes The Shield to the razed country of Bialya, destroyed by the rage of Black Adam in 52. Something lurks in the mountains beyond militia activity, and The Shield must investigate!
Plus, Inferno stars in a fast-paced co-feature from writer Brandon Jerwa (G.I. Joe) and artist Greg Scott (GOTHAM CENTRAL)! Who is Inferno, and why is he being pursued by the Dark Men? He’d better find out fast because Green Arrow and Black Canary have questions of their own for the new hero!
On sale September 9 • 40 pg, FC, $3.99 US
Now you get Jerw and Trautmann two ways: this fine comic published by DC, or their even finer comic, Wide Awake. It’s like peanut butter and jelly, but with people. Delicious, delicious people.

Can you believe it? I know I can’t, but after two weeks, we’re back! Now, while our lives may be fraught with peril and there is danger at every turn, our ‘cast is not nearly as action packed. What it is, is informative and entertaining. Come on, Sam Bambino and the Funk Doctor? How does that NOT sound fun?
This week it’s more Iron Man 2, A-Team, Planetary news along with McDuffie’s firing from JLA, Rich Johnston’s new industry news and gossip site, as well as fan reaction to Wonder Woman from one handsome man. I speak of course, of Brian Michael Bendis.
Join us, won’t you? It’s cool inside and I just made some lemonade, with bourbon. What’s lemonade without bourbon? Boring, I’d say. I know what you’re thinking, if I’m thirsty I should just drink water, but water doesn’t have any alcohol in it, unless it’s from Russia.

What the hell? Where have I been? Well, I could blame the economy, I’ll just say that I let things fall by the wayside in light of having too much to do on Sundays. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I have a weekend job.
In light of that, I do have some comics to talk about again while I get things back on an upswing! This week it’s all about the comics
Or to be more fair, Shrapnel #1-5, because I want to bookend this, baby!
So here’s to being back and keeping it fresh. Er, crescent fresh? Fresh -E- Fresh? Fresh Prince of Bel Aire? Yeah, I could go on, but I won’t, because it’s time for a review or two!

What do they Tiger Men do? They party. And boy do they party hard. They hit the bars, they chat with the ladies, and they talk about comics ALL NIGHT LONG. Aaaaaaah, yeeeeeaaaaah.
Ok, so maybe that isn’t your scene, but it’s ours and we love it more than Donnie loves Marie or Joanie loves Chachi. Yes ladies and gentlemen, that much. We love them enough to talk about Captain Britain, Wonder Woman, the Green (and Red) Lanterns, Superman and Batman. Yes, all of the above and more.
So join us and learn, because we have our nerdy wisdom to impart. It is a delicious treat, but like a snausage, but comic sized.

What can we say? It was a rough week or two. For me, it feels like it was one, but there are some glaring gaps in the ‘ol memory, and as well all know the Doctor can only get so much out of his Dangerous Game fueled excursions. Hey, whatever keeps him sane.
What happens in two weeks of comic news? Well, a couple of movies come out, which we talk about at some length. A decent amount of comics came out. Oh, and Geoff Johns brings the awesome while Grant Morrison brings the crazy. Good ‘ol DC comics, going and trying to be crazy awesome.
Don’t worry, there’s some Marvel news in there as well, but good lord folks, DC really knocked us out this week, and we’re loving it!

You hear it right my friends. Eric Trautmann, Brandon Jerwa, David Messina and Mirco Pierfederici have posted the first issue in their online comic, Wide Awake. You can check the first “issue” on their site, and look for updates weekly as the story advances!
I would like to throw a huge “kudos” to the team over there. It’s a bold move for comic creators to take, and I think it’s something people need to paying more attention to. If you didn’t already know, the internets are the future, kids. We may not have our flying cars, but we do have our streaming media anywhere we want it. Good on ya, fellas. We’ll be look’n out.

Don’t let the title fool you. The Tiger Men were not aboard Air Force One during it’s recent buzz over the Manhattan skyline, they just cannot help but be a little topical.
It should also be noted that we don’t get political on the show, so you don’t have to worry about us pointing fingers. At political figures anyway. We save the finger pointing for the ladies. Oh and how the Tiger Men love those ladies. What about the ladies out there? You digg’n on the Tiger Men scene? Ah yeah, we knew you would.
This week it’s a little of this, a little of that, and over all just a, well, little. Does that ever stop the Tiger Men? No I saw! We soldier on and get into the thick of it! It’s movie news, it’s comic writers and it’s a whole lotta love. Join us, especially you, ladies.

Hey, it’s not because we suck. We just, well…. damnitt, I can’t think of anything clever right now. My own gravity is sucking away the creativity! But no matter mi amigos, it’s Tiger Man time!
This week the Men from Mars peruse a plethora of pretty pictures and comic goodness. Will Spider Man propose to Mary Jane? Will Thor catch Loki in his latest evil act to over throw Asgard? Will Madame Masque get the better of Tony Stark. Wait, what? That wasn’t this week? Ah hell, there goes my memory!
I know the FX Con happened, Spider-Men got a lot of press and Marvel is teasing us like Richard Gere (Wait for it…. there ya go. Now you got it). Needless to say it was a wonderful week, so read on!
